Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 1-4 PM

First Parish of Arlington

630 Massachusetts Avenue Arlington, MA 02476

Just in time for Halloween! At this fundraiser, everyone is invited to bring their scores or instrumental part of Ruddigore and play, follow, or sing along together! All proceeds go toward the cost of the space, future sing-throughs and our first fully staged production.

About the show:

Robin Oakapple is having a rough time. He is desperately in love with the beautiful Rose Maybud, but too shy to tell her himself. He recruits his foster brother Dick Dauntless to assist his wooing, but finds himself fighting a new rival when Dick also falls for Rose's charms. As if this weren't enough, it turns out he is also the heir to a cursed baronetcy, doomed to commit a crime every day on pain of a horrible, agonizing death. Can he break the curse and win back the girl of his dreams? Or is he doomed to be trapped in a waking nightmare?

What Is a Sing-Through?
At this fundraiser, everyone is invited to bring their scores or instrumental part of H.M.S. Pinafore and play, follow, or sing along to a concert read-through of the show.  The Savoyards of Boston will sell copies of the vocal score for $10 a piece (while supplies last) if you do not want to bring your own.

Instrumentalists are highly encouraged to attend.  To play in the orchestra, please contact the orchestra manager after purchasing your ticket by emailing savoyardsofboston@gmail.com.

If you would like to sing a named role or play in the orchestra, please plan on arriving no later than 1:00 PM on July 13.

All proceeds go toward the cost of the space rental, future sing-throughs, and the Savoyards of Boston's first fully-staged production.  With your participation, you will also get a chance to vote for our next sing-through.  In addition to ticket sales, donate as little or as much as you like--there is no maximum limit.  But remember:  the more you donate, the greater resources we will have that enable us to put on high quality productions in the years to come.

About the Show:
Take a rollicking respite from the summer heat and celebrate one of Gilbert and Sullivan’s most beloved nautical operettas!  Ralph, a lowly sailor, is in love with his Captain’s daughter, Josephine.  All seems hopeless until the arrival of Sir Joseph Porter, K.C.B., who prides himself on his philosophy that “love levels all ranks.”  Ralph takes heart, but can his love level all the ranks it needs to?  Join us for a classic romantic comedy that features some of Gilbert and Sullivan’s best loved music and characters.
